November 13, 1983 – October 9, 2019
Nicole Lauren Fleiss was an enormously happy child – always smiling, affectionate, articulate, smart, and astounded her family with her ability to solve puzzles and daily issues with little or no help. Her favorite sentence, as a young child, was, “No, mommy, I can do it myself.” Occasionally, it was “daddy.”
Nicole was the joy of her parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives, and friends. She attended Castle Heights Elementary School, Palms Gifted Middle School, and Palisades High School. Nicole was a Teen Line “Listener” where she relished the opportunity to help her peers conquer their issues. She went to Tulane University in New Orleans and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Psychology.
She was an excellent student, receiving straight “A”s through the first eight grades of her schooling. During the summer, between the 6th and 7th grades, she was chosen by John Hopkins University to be one of two hundred students across the United States to attend a special educational session for bright students in Fresno.
Nicole loved little children, cats, and dogs. She had a gentle, soft, and warm way about her with both children and animals and would capture their hearts. Nicole was like the pied-piper of children. A trait she passed onto her sister Traci.
The last week of her life brought her so much joy with the addition of new dog Toby.
Nicole died at Cedar-Sinai Hospital on October 9, 2019. All of us will miss Nicole every second for the rest of our lives. Her beautiful smile, spirit, and giant loving heart will remain with us forever. When her parents close their eyes, they can still hear Nicole saying, “Mommy, Daddy, I love you.”
